Working on the water is one of the skills that Sloan Productions has been known for. During the America’s Cup competitions in San Diego, Bob logged cumulative days on the water covering the event and individual yachting syndicates, television networks, and corporate sponsors.
Creating a Positive Working Environment
In the operating room, the surgeon runs the show. Sloan Productions is known for an ability to communicate & create an inter-dependence with “leaders of their environment”, it may be a surgeon, a CEO, or an America’s Cup skipper.
Going Through Channels
No, this isn’t West Coast Choppers. If you look closely you’ll see that we are actually filming in a chemistry lab. The challenge for this shoot was to; 1-Get permission to grind, weld, & operate a chainsaw in one of our client’s labs, 2-Not set off smoke alarms and needing to evacuate an entire building, and 3-Return the lab to it’s original condition.
The video project was a parody called “Pimp My Drug“.
Making it Fun = Good Results
Respecting the Time of Your Client’s Employees
An important aspect during production of videos for biotech clients is maximizing our time in the lab with minimal interruptions to the scientist’s work while complying with health & safety procedures. In addition to this skill and experience, we have engineered specialized lighting systems for lab work.
Pre-production Meeting
Pre-production planning sets the stage for cost efficiency and successful projects. During this location scout for a Terminix corporate shoot, the Sloan Productions team combine efficiencies for scheduling, lighting, props and set dressing, amongst many others.
Handheld Camera
Proper handheld camera technique is different from simply “hand holding” the camera. In this example, Bob is filming former San Diego Charger Junior Seau being interviewed by Marcus Allen for CBS Sports. The handheld camera allows Bob to float with the interview, changing perspective and shot size as the situation changes.
Working With Animals
When the script calls for animals it’s not as simple as just bringing your dog along that day. In this scene, animal handler Nancy Kobert cues her trained dog to behave as required in the script. Specialized services like animal handling helps keep productions on schedule and within budget.
Motion Capture with Dustin Pedroia
Shooting a “motion capture” session with Red Sox player Dustin Pedroia, Director of Photography Jeff Landie leads a Sloan production crew. San Diego is home to several video game producers all of whom employ motion capture to create more realistic game titles. In this photo, Pedroia wears a suit with markers near each joint to identify his motion by the positions or angles between the markers. The markers are then “captured” as he goes through his movements and are recorded by multiple cameras fixed around the stage. Sloan Productions provides professional production crews in San Diego to networks, independent producers, and corporations.

Greenscreen Production
Chromakey or “Green Screen” photography allows placing our subjects into backgrounds that would be too difficult or costly to accomplish. In this production of an awards video for Pfizer La Jolla, we placed the scientists in the roles of Apollo 13″.
